What to expect — honest notes
- To reach a size target reliably, pages are re-rendered as optimised images. The page looks the same on screen and in print, but the text becomes part of the image, so it is no longer selectable or searchable and bookmarks are lost.
- Choose a target smaller than the original file. If you enter a larger number the tool warns you that the PDF would be enlarged.
- Every file has a lower limit. If the target is extremely small the tool gets as close as it can and tells you the quality is “Fair” rather than failing silently.

Your file and your privacy
